A Fun Thing To Do In Portland Oregon

Today I attended the Memorial Weekend Celebration at Cubanisimo Vineyards near Salem. This is an annual event at the vineyard that is celebrated “Cuban Style” with salsa lessons and dancing, a live band, wine tasting and catered Cuban cuisine in a beautiful setting. This event is definitely a fun thing to do in Portland. I even learned some new salsa moves! The event occurs all weekend 11 A.M. – 4 P.M. as well as on Memorial Day. The band was Pure Vida, a Portland-based band and they were excellent.
Other fun things to do at the vineyard include monthly Salsa dancing lessons, an Eclipse Party weekend and Zydeco dancing June 16 with a live band.

 

5 Things to Do Near Portland Oregon

There are many things do do near Portland Oregon. If you take a drive from Portland to Astoria at the Beach you will first pass through the small town of Linnton. There is a wonderful restaurant in Linnton with great Chinese food called The Decoy. After you leave Linnton you will next approach Sauvie Island. This amazing place is like stepping back in time and is a fun thing to do near Portland. It is a wonderful place to bicycle. Make sure you stop at Sauvie Island Blueberry Farm or Kruger’s Farm Market. Farther down U.S. 30, as you pass the town of Rainier, you will see two viewpoints on the right of the valley and the Lewis and Clark Bridge. As you proceed to the coast you will see Trojan Park on the right with great fishing. Finally you will see a sign to Jones Beach on the right (there are no rest rooms). The road is bumpy leading to the beach. Also you will see a sign to Nicolai Mountain OHV Riding Area on the left. This would be a fun thing to do near Portland if you have a four-wheeler.
